About
A demand was put forward by the Diaspora for creating a platform where they could come together, share their views and through which they could contribute in the development of their motherland. To honour emotions and demand of Bihari diaspora, the Government of Bihar decided to establish Bihar Foundation by a resolution (No. 4433, Dated – 24th November 2006) of the Department of Industries, Bihar. Later on, after suggestions of eminent persons in the ‘Global Meet for a Resurgent Bihar’ (19-21 January, 2007), it was decided to start Bihar Foundation as a Society and it got registered as a society under Department of Industry, Government of Bihar on 27th July 2007.
Our Mission
We provide a forum for and to facilitate communication and interaction between Non-Resident Biharis (NRB’s) and the state of Bihar. Participation of Bihari diaspora and other Indians in the development of the state of Bihar is also very important and we facilitate them to involve in the process of state building by leveraging their strengths and resources in the fields of Agriculture and allied sectors, Agro based industries, Industries, Tourism, Education, Power, Social welfare, Medical and Healthcare sectors, Infrastructure and other areas of development. Also we unite and form Self Help Groups / local chapters of NRB’s in areas which have substantial Bihari migrant population and to aid them in developing the state of Bihar through strategic interventions in various fields. Taking steps for improving the vocational training and skill capacity of migrant Bihari labour and to improve their wages and conditions of work, setting up libraries, reference and information centres and systems, promotion centres and bodies, demonstration and common service centres relevant to the objectives of the Foundation are also our goal. We also provide inputs and suggestions to the GoB regarding policies and schemes designed for the development of the state and to create such funds and endowments as necessary for their implementation.
